Samudra Ancol
Samudra Ancol was inaugurated in June 1974 by Governor Ali Sadikin as a realization of his vision for the necessity of recreational facilities to introduce the public to the sea and its potential. Samudra Ancol is an Edutainment Theme Park with a conservation-themed atmosphere that provides experiences to get to know and love various animals.
Samudra Ancol is the largest oceanarium unit consisting of dolphin shows, sea lion shows, various animal performances, animal exhibitions, marine and freshwater aquariums, as well as a park for various birds’ habitats.
Ancol has made a breakthrough by becoming a center for ex-situ dolphin conservation studies (dolphinarium) because it has the most comprehensive concept and management of dolphins, including various elements that support each other such as dolphin holding pools, water treatment, trainers/keepers, procurement of quality fish, laboratories, and medical and veterinary staff.
